SHADOW SELF
(Leeza Pritychenko)
SHADOW SELF is speculative attempt to investigate a namesake psychological concept — a dark, subconscious, usually suppressed and rejected part of the identity that lives within every human, and to see: what would happen if one would be able to face it as if they're looking in the mirror?
Standing next to an interactive projection powered by Kinect, you encounter an infernal creature from the depth repeating your movements in erratic and distorted way. Shown as WIP demo on SATURNALIA 2018.
For a VJ set of Saturnalia 2018 the virtual environment of Shadow Self was adapted to the idea what the ancient Roman Saturnalia festival used to be: wild and indulgent festivity celebrating life and liberation in the name of a god Saturn. The visuals are showing wild mythical creatures such as dryads, satyrs and golems dancing together on a macabre celebration in a dark, vast otherworldly landscape.

Installed during SATURNALIA FESTIVAL
Macao, Milano / 23-24.06.2018
